The West Bengal government has announced a new scheme WB Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme 2022 to benefit unmarried girls of weaker sections. Under this scheme, the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to girls above 18 years of age. The government claimed that the scheme greatly helps financially weak parents who cannot marry their daughters. The amount will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. As we have told you that under the West Bengal Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme, Rs 25,000 will be provided to the poor families of the state as lump sum assistance at the time of their marriage. The grant, to be provided under the name of โRupashree Prakalpaโ, is aimed at mitigating the difficulties that poor families face in bearing the expenditure of their daughtersโ marriages, for which they often have to borrow money at very high-interest rates. Eligibility Criteria
To get benefits under the scheme, it is mandatory to have the following eligibility –
- She has attained the age of 18 years AND is unmarried on the date of submitting her application.
- The proposed marriage is her first marriage.
- She was born in West Bengal OR she has been a resident of West Bengal for the last 5 years OR her parents are permanent residents of West Bengal.
- Her family income is not greater than Rs. 1.50 lakhs per annum.
- Her prospective groom has attained the age of 21 years.
- She has an active bank account for which she is the sole account holder. The bank account must be in a bank that has an IFS Code and a MICR code and transacts e-payments through NEFT.
