What are Drones?

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are called drones. That is a small remotely operated aircraft. Well, despite being like a plane, it is not a plane, but a robot that can fly. Usually, drones equipped with four wings can fly long when the battery is charged. They are flown from a remote or a specially designed control room. The Hindi meaning of drone is the male bee and it has got this name because of flying. It flies exactly like a bee and can hover in one place while remaining stationary. Drones are of several types based on their size, range, stability, and load-carrying capacity. They usually have fixed fins, rotors and get energy from batteries. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-UAV is a machine flying in the air which we can control through remote or mobile. Some people also call it a mechanical bird.

DGCA Issued New Rules For Drones

Drones can be used only in some places in India and this will be possible only if the drone user follows all the rules. The following points have to be kept in mind while flying a drone weighing above 250 grams.

  • Drones cannot be flown in residential areas without permission. Drones cannot be flown within 5 km of an airport or helipad.
  • Drones cannot be flown in sensitive zones or areas with high-profile security.
  • Flying drones is prohibited near government offices, military spots, airports, international borders, coastlines, secretariat premises.
  • The person flying the drone must be at least 18 years old or above. All drones will be flown with a license plate that states the operator’s name and how to contact them.
  • More than one Unmanned Automatic Vehicle (UAV) or Drone cannot be flown at a time.
  • Drones cannot be flown within 50 km from any international border.
  • Drones can be flown only 500 meters away from the sea. Drones cannot be flown within 5 km from Vijay Chowk, Delhi.
  • Drones cannot be flown even in National Park, Public Spot, Wildlife Sanctuary, etc.

Highlights of Drone Rules, 2021

  1. The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India has released the Draft Drone Rules, 2021 to ensure ease of use of drones in India on the basis of “trust, self-certification and non-interference monitoring”.
  2. Based on the principle of trust, self-certification, and non-intrusive surveillance, the ‘Drone Rules, 2021’ will replace the ‘Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Rules, 2021’ issued on March 12, 2021. It is noteworthy that the UAS Rules, 2021 came into force on March 12 this year.

  3. The last date for receiving people’s suggestions on ‘Drone Rules, 2021’ is August 5, 2021.

Categories of Drones

First of all, let us tell you that according to the weight and size of the drone, it is divided into five categories. are as follows –

Drone Airspace Zones

If you want to use a drone, you will have three zones of airspace as per the Drone Rules 2021.

  • Red zone => Flights are not allowed.
  • Yellow zone => Controlled airspace permission required before flight.
  • Green zone => Controlled airspace automatic permission.
  • No Drone Zone => Drone operation is not allowed in Certain Places.

Provision of Punishment for violation of Drone Rules 2021

  • Apart from this, drones cannot be flown above 60 meters even at weddings and parties. If any rule is violated, there is a provision of both fine and fine.
  • Suspension or cancellation of UIN/UAOP in case of violation of regulatory provisions.
  • Statutory proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Aircraft Act 1934 or the Aircraft Rules or any statutory provision.
  • Penalty or fine under sections 287, 336, 337, 338 of IPC.

Permission and license to fly a drone

  • DGCA has also put some conditions for flying drones. According to this, drones cannot be flown in closed space. Before flying it, permission has to be taken from Air Traffic and Air Defense Control. There are two types of licenses are given to fly drones.
  • One student remote pilot license and the other remote pilot license are issued. To get this license, the minimum age of the operator should be 18 years and a maximum of 65 years if they want to fly the drone for commercial activity.
  • For this, the minimum qualification should be a class 10 pass or its equivalent degree from a recognized board. Apart from passing the DGCA Specified Medical Examination, the applicant has to undergo a background check as well.
  • To fly any type of drone other than the nano category, you will need a license or permit. If anyone flies a drone (except Nano) without a permit, he will have to pay a fine of Rs 25,000. There is a fine of up to Rs 50,000 for flying a drone in a no-operation area.

भारत में ड्रोन उड़ाने के सामान्य नियम
